The AREDS2 formulation, a clinically validated supplement regimen for AMD, includes both vitamins, underscoring their established relevance to retinal health.

Probiotics and Prebiotics Fermented foods such as yogurt, kefir, kimchi, and sauerkraut introduce beneficial bacterial strains that can help restore microbial balance. Researchers have not yet established definitive clinical protocols based solely on microbiome data, and no single probiotic strain has been proven to prevent or reverse any specific eye condition. What the evidence does establish, however, is that the body's systems are far more interconnected than traditional siloed medicine once assumed.

For patients and practitioners alike, this emerging understanding carries a practical message: caring for your eyes is not limited to what happens during an eye exam. It extends to the foods on your plate, the health of your digestive tract, and the daily habits that shape your internal environment.
